Meet Mr. Hockwater
Dear OLBS Family,
My name is Mr. Michael Hockwater and I am the new Spanish teacher. I am a proud graduate of OLBS and a K-College Catholic education. I graduated from Canisius College summa cum laude in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Adolescence Education (5-12). While at Canisius, I wrote for the school paper, The Griffin, served as a general body member and vice president of the Education and English honor societies, conducted research on language acquisition, and studied and taught abroad in Oviedo, Spain.
After graduation, I secured work as a substitute teacher for several local school districts and began pursuing a master's degree in Literacy (Birth-12) at the University at Buffalo. I expect to graduate with my master's degree next summer. Last year, I was graciously welcomed back to OLBS as a long-term substitute Social Studies and Religion teacher. I am thrilled to be back again this year in my new capacity as your Spanish teacher.
I look forward to working with you once again to ensure personal and academic success and growth for all students. I have an exciting and informative year planned to hone students' Spanish speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, as well as introduce them to popular Spanish culture and traditions. Whether you're just starting out in Spanish 4 or are advanced in your studies in Spanish 8, you will find my class a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging place to learn. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
Best wishes for another successful school year,
~Mr. Hockwater
